Shiur by Rabbi JJ Schacter in Memory of Gilad Schwartz z"l

On Thursday evening March 15th, come hear Rabbi JJ Schachter speak on the topic of "Menorah From Ancient Times To Contemporary Israel: History And Controversy" in honor of Gilad Schwartz's memory, launching "The Gilad Schwartz Academic Scholarship" at Yeshiva University.

Yeshiva University President Richard Joel will deliver the introduction to Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, Senior Scholar of Yeshiva University's Center for the Jewish Future and Professor of Jewish History and Jewish Thought.

Gilad '08, a caring, warm and kind human being, passed from this world in 2010 at the age of 19 after a long battle with cancer. We remember him for his strength of character, his wit and charm, and for his deep, philosophical thoughts. Gilad was an aspiring intellectual, and enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge (chachmah) from literature and Torah to music and physics.

There is a suggested donation of $5. Please donate at www.yu.edu/support/Gilad. Refreshments will be served at the event.
