We regret to inform you of the passing of
 
Dr. Norman Katz z"l
 
beloved father of Etzion Foundation board member 
and Yeshiva Alumnus, Avi Katz '76, 
and grandfather of Dena MO '04, Tamar MO '07 and Shua '11
 
The levaya took place Wednesday, January 16, 
at 11:00am at  Gutterman and Musicant
402 Park St, Hackensack, NJ
 
The kevura took place on Har HaMenuchot
on Thursday evening, January 17.
 
Avi returned to Teaneck to sit shiva at his home
1460 Hudson Road, Teaneck, NJ on Friday morning.
He will sit shiva on Friday until 2:00pm
and again on Motzaei Shabbat.
He is leaving Teaneck on Sunday morning after Shacharit.

Update:

The family of Dr. Norman Katz Z"L, his wife Judy and son Avi,
will be returning to Saint Louis

Monday & Tuesday to sit part of the shiva there. 
This will allow the community to express their condolences
and pay their respects to the family. 

The shiva will take place at the home of Kathy & Sidney Machefsky,
725 Swarthmore,

beginning Monday afternoon at 2:30 pm, and ending immediately following ma'ariv on Tuesday evening. 
At that time they will return to Teaneck for the remainder of the shiva, through Thursday morning.

 
Davening times at the shiva on Monday & Tuesday will be the same as at the shul:
Monday -  Mincha / Ma'riv 4:55 pm *
Tuesday - Shacharit 6:40 am, and Mincha / Ma'ariv 4:55 pm.
* On Monday, please allow the family time for dinner following Ma'ariv,
and resume shiva visits Monday evening from 7-9 pm.
 
Shacharit Friday 7:30am
Sunday 8:00am
Monday, Tuesday - as noted above
Wednesday 7:30am
Thursday 7:20am
Mincha/Maariv Wednesday 4:40pm
 
May the Katz family be comforted 
among the mourners of Tzion v'Yerushalayim.

The Yeshiva runs on Talmud Torah, Tefilla, Middot Tovot, and Maasim Tovim. These days - we are all working that much harder to keep it all running. We wanted to highlight some 'Ovdei HaYeshiva' starting with Ovdei HaMitbach. These Guys are serving up meals to Yeshiva talmidim, Rabbeim and staff along with Evacuees from Kiriyat Shemone, Refugees from Kfar Maimon, an IDF unit serving in the area, elderly residents of Alon Shevut whose support system have been drafted, and are providing school meals including meals for children whose parents are currently serving and protecting.    
Oh, there are countless extras; one Shabbat, they prepared a Simcha for a Bar Mitzvah Boy - an evacuee from Kiriyat Shemone sheltering safely with his family in the Yeshiva dorms - whose father is currently serving and protecting. Some of them have been drafted and are serving on Emergency Response Teams. They show up in the kitchen and then leave to do their shifts.   All have family who are currently serving and protecting. Thanking them for showing up to work and working hard - every day - during these difficult times - way beyond the call of duty.
